Meet Greg “Rafiq” Clarkson

Greg participated in the birth of the Internet in Australia in 1993 as the senior system administrator of CAN FidoNet and the first non-profit ISP in Queensland in 1995.
He was selected by Compaq Research Unit in 2000 to design extensive performance testing on an innovative distributed network file server application capable of delivering petabytes of information (un-heard of in 2000).
In 2002 he designed and launched Smart Data Vault – one of the first secure offsite backup companies in Australia.
In 2005 he transformed Network Overdrive to become one of the first Managed Services companies in Australia.
In 2009 Greg designed and configured hosted PBX services what was able to be delivered to both private and public networks over secure and reliable connection.
In 2010 Greg managed the Database Administration Team for the Essential Services Commission as they migrated the VEET scheme to an online platform. (Victoria’s emmission’s trading scheme).
In 2011 he integrated network performance management tools to MPLS, VPN and large web server farms to aid in visibly and optimization.
These highlights are just some of the hundreds of IT projects delivered for a wide range of Government, Corporate and community clients. The projects have involved the configuration, deployment and management of large heterogeneous IT infrastructures containing Cisco and Linux network devices and Windows, Linux, MacOSX and BSD servers and desktops.

Greg early career focused on providing counseling services for young people. Through his professional human development training and experience he developed strong communications skills to enable the business leaders to make the critical decisions for their company.
