KJ Ross & Associates is a software testing specialist company. With the increasing complexity of software development many companies are turning to KJ Ross and Associates to design and manage the testing of their systems. KJ Ross & Associate has consultants in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney and Melbourne in this rapidly growing market.

THE CHALLENGE
Kelvin wanted all remote consultants to access the Test Laboratory in the Gold Coast to check on the status of test that the consultants are managing, to access the Test Management system and to share information.

He also wanted to make course material available for participants of KJ Ross & Associates training programmes.

THE SOLUTION
Network Overdrive proposed an ADSL router with port redirection to internal web and console management software.

The internal NT and Linux systems would run the VNC (Virtual Network Computing) server to allow remote consultants to gain graphical control of the machine.They can then set-up appropriate tests to be run throughout the night and to view the results in the morning.

They would also run the Secure Shell (ssh) application to encrypt the VNC session before it was sent over the internet.

BENEFITS
KJ Ross & Associate is able to run effectively as a virtual test laboratory with consultants in Sydney and Melbourne able to leverage the Gold Coast resource.

The solution comprises of open-source technology that made it very cost-effective and robust. The remote consultant had adequate performance from a modem connection to the internet.

The Gold Coast office was able to utilise the superior ADSL technology in a customised way.
